A fan has transformed Rick, using deepfake software, into Green Goblin’s Willem Dafoe.
And it’s a nightmare on your screen. Let’s face it, Rick and Morty is weird enough anyway but a deepfake version? Sends shivers down your spine!
The video was made by Ben Marriott, a designer, and illustrator, and was posted onto his YouTube channel. Using 3D modeling footage of a Rick and Morty scene, Marriott used animation software called Maya to reimagine the scene as a deepfake video – have a look:
Weird, right?
Rick and Morty is a 2D animation but Marriott has replaced it with a 3D image showing the characters as humans. Look close and Rick now has Willem Dafoe’s face in his Green Goblin character. Marriott says.
“it turned out a tad more horrifying than I expected. I wasn’t exactly expecting it to be particularly flattering.:
What do you think? Weird? Just a little bit disturbing?
You can see what else Marriott has been up to with experimental animation and deepfakes on his channel including this one of Homer from the Simpsons.
