Together with Leonardo DiCaprio and Willem Dafoe, Schwarzenegger appears in “No Country for Old Men”.
Some deepfakes are so good, such high-quality, that they send shivers down your spine and that truly applies here.
Popular YouTube channel, Ctrl Shift Face, has been producing deepfakes that are terrifyingly real and this time, they’ve chosen the ‘coin toss’ scene out of No Country for Old Men. Instead of Javier Bardem, though, they’ve produced three videos, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Willem Dafoe.
And if wasn’t creepy enough having the actor’s face overlaid onto the original, then the voices, done by voice actors, have been dubbed too and it will give you a whole lot to think about.
And just when you think you’ve been creeped out enough, we get this one:
We’re all familiar with some of Dafoe’s weird characters and, strangely, each one of them seems to manifest in this video, startling hostile, and eerily accurate.
This may be entertaining, and it may also creep you out but it isn’t clear just yet how deepfakes are going to feature in the future, especially as they get more convincing, and bad actors try manipulating videos. And we also have the 2020 US election coming up; but of course, no-one would attempt to use this kind of technology to try and influence the election.
And if they did, we’re all clever enough to spot a fake?
